General characteristics

The  Air Ventilator Haptic Test System  performs automatic functional tests on air ventilation components to measure the force necessary for the execution of movements in the different components of the part.

The movements are performed by a 6-axis robot that forces the components of the part to follow the desired routes while storing data on the expended force. This particular machine tests movable fins and knurled wheels by performing four test motions on each fin and two on each wheel.

Architecture

This system is made up of the following main parts:

  • Work area and command panel
  • Robot with gripper and load cell
  • Industrial PC, printer and keyboard
  • Software interface
  • Reject box
  • Air handling unit
  • Switches, sensors and safety barriers

The operator places the vent piece to be tested in the nest of the machine. The test setup uses a six-axis robot to move selected components and stores information about the force applied to each move. The operator can view the tests in the test results window. Results are also available with Air Vent Analysis offline software. This software allows the user to better understand the overall results, how physical changes affect parts, and how physical modifications can affect the force acquisition graphs for each movement.

Through an intuitive interface, the user can navigate through the different analysis and organization options of the software.
